I will guide you through a land rich in history, art, and food. Winemaking in Sicily started over 3000 years ago with the Phoenicians and grew with Greek colonists. Museums showcase ancient amphorae and vases with scenes of wine and gatherings, showing the deep roots of Sicilian wine culture
We have more than 60 varieties of native vines, as well as international varieties.I will introduce you to local vintners who produce sample and organic wines with tradition and passion: small wine producers around Mount Etna and its surroundings, including the latest generation of ancestral and natural wine producers and notable wineries. With many years of experience in the wine and tourism sectors, I will guide you in discovering and learning about all aspects of wine production and its history. I will take you to the land where the grapes are born and grow, explaining the process of both cultivation and production, including the cellar where the grapes are transformed into prestigious wines. I’m winemaker, I have inherited from my family and the memories of my grandfather Benedetto, who was a winemaker, the passion for wine. In 2001, thanks to an exciting idea I created my own brand www.darrigowines.com. This was how I began to export my wine to the USA. My wine can be found in several States and they received much acclaim. I continue to explore the art of wine production by visiting other vineyard around the world.
I will show you a simple Sicily, warm and hospitable, made up of small villages in the countryside where time slows down, where farmers, shepherds and artisans produce and transform their products based on seasonal cycles. At the end of your journey, you will find yourself among friends, savoring the experience of having visited an island in harmony with nature, biodiversity, and far from modern frenetic life. During the day, we will have the opportunity to visit and learn about the monuments, art, and history of Sicily. In the afternoon, we will dive into the world of wines and their producers, tasting wines inside the wine cellars, accompanied by local gastronomic dishes.
If you love wine, this experience is a chance of a lifetime.
Salute cent’anni!
